Default 1967 American League Pennant Race

The Chicago White Sox hosted the Detroit Tigers for a Sunday doubleheader on September 10, 1967. Both teams were involved in a wild, four-team chase for the A. L. pennant.

The first game, Tiger manager Mayo Smith penciled in a formidable lineup including future HOFers Al Kaline and Eddie Mathews as well as Norm Cash, Jim Northrup, Willie Horton, Dick McAuliffe and Bill Freehan to face Chisox pitcher Joel Horlen. Chicago's pennant hopes had been greatly diminished the day before during the TV Game of the Week, with Detroit overcoming a 3-0 deficit, scoring seven times in the ninth inning deflating the Sox 7-3.

Chicago came back from the dead the next day, shutting out the Tigers in both games of the twin bill. Joel Horlen tossed a no-hitter in the first game.
