Post your favorite comments by a MLB ballplayer
I'll start this show and tell by posting two of my favorites......
This one I heard after watching (on TV) this tremendous game on Oct 8th 1956. Don Larsen's modest response to the sports media's numerous questions after his Perfect No-Hitter...... " The Dodgers made it easy for me....I threw only 97 pitches. " and, Scenario......1958 World Series: Milwaukee 3 vs Yankees 1 The following day a pushy sports reporter asks Casey Stengel: " If he thought the Yankees were choked up ? " Casey responded: " If there is any choking, it will be you on this microphone. " This obnoxious reporter was Howard Cosell. The Yankees won the next 3 games to win the Series. Bob Turley achieved an unprecedented "trifecta" by shutting out the Braves in Game 5. Beating them in relief in Game 6. And, winning Game 7. TED Z . Last edited by tedzan; 09-20-2015 at 11:13 AM. |
