I know of a few people who need this card to complete their master set. Probably the toughest post war sought after error. I think it's legit.

Default 69 Topps card

Gents- This exchange is a fine example of the knowledge to be gained
on net54. 40+ years of collecting, and I was unaware of this rare error.
Thanks

+2. So, now the question is do I add it to my search and if yes, how much to go for it. Rarity doesn’t always equal mula.

I did the same thing to my 1973 topps a few weeks ago after learning about the Kaline Bandage error that I never knew existed and actually have one! I was going to sell it and make a quick buck but after seeing this price I may wait a while!!

There have been some really strong sales of the Kaline card recently. I was lucky enough to find one on ebay a few years ago and have watched the values on and off over time. I wonder if PSA only recently started to identify the bandage variation? I saw a social media post just this AM from a big ebay seller advertising an auction for the card and the low population. Was wondering if the low count had to do with only recently being listed on the slabs. Mine is graded, but not identified.

The 1973 Kaline bandage variation just leaves me wondering how Al got the ouchie boo-boo on his forehead.

Completely agree and that card is the proverbial needle in a haystack. It has to be a few master set completists getting fired up to fill that last spot.

This is a great example of what happens to an error when PSA adds just a couple of words to a label and recognizes it. Rare as hen's teeth or not, prior to that it would have took you a few years to find the right guy to even give you a fraction over what the normal version is worth.

Default 69 Topps error

JustinD- for the record, PSAs recognition of the error means zero to many
collectors (and I am one). It's cool to think "ordinary" collectors who own
a pile of 69 commons, have a chance at a collection-defining moment (and
I am definitely not one). This is excellent information exchange that I
wouldn't have had but for net54, it's that simple. Trent King

I had a member ask me to name my price for my NBO copy (ungraded) of this card. A PSA 8 copy of the NBO sold in Nov for $7500 as a fixed price listing...it appears that PSA 8 seller left some money on the table by not going the auction route.

Card is legit, price is whack.

And yep, that one will never get into my master set. Damn hard to find in any condition.

Price is whack. I know there are members on this board with this card and multiple ones. It’s a tough card I’ve only seen once in person over the last 40 years. I surely could have passed one over in my early years.

The seller is definitely living up to their username with this sale.

Have to admit that it took me a few minutes to figure out what "no black outline" referred to. I had to find a normal version of the card and play "spot the difference".

I did the same thing. It was fairly apparent after reading the description. I'm so happy I'm not working on any master sets. Holy crud, I look at the final hammer and think WOW - I could have a couple cards I really wanted with what was paid for that card. But then, the person that won it must have a huge smile on their face because that must have been a HUGE hole that was finally filled. That's kind of what makes this fun.
