Default E107, the true Monster

I was going through some (very) old threads regarding the E107 set, and read that several people have come somewhat close to completing it. I was just curious if anyone knows where those partial sets are at today or if the owners sold them off? I feel like even with a lifetime of collecting with unlimited money it would still be tough to truly complete this set. I'd probably try to collect as many examples as I could someday

Now for the fun part of this thread- everyone show your E107s! I know there are members out there, like myself, that never get tired of seeing them

Chris Sullivan came the closest. Legendary sold off his collection over a 2 year period a few years ago.

He had 147 cards in the collection, this includes Type 2 and a few team variations.

What a great collection it was.

The set has been completed by one collector. A second collector is finished or is one team variation short.

Bought this card back in the late 70's for $25.00. At the time I thought I was paying to much but even then you didn't see them much ! I'm not able to buy expensive cards but feel very lucky to have this one in my collection.

Jay may have more current data than I but I believe that the largest set is still missing one team variation, and second needs at least a few of the team variations. Chris Sullivan actually had the third largest group ever assembled(at the time of the sale it was 2nd) but has since been surpassed.

Since "The Monster" is already taken, maybe the E107 "set" could be called "The Beast"?

Is the E107 Doyle, Philadelphia Nat'l variation unique? Is it represented in the (complete) set?

It's the one card that I've looked for from the set that I've never been able to even see a scan of. I only have looked for the Phillies from the set - but that has been elusive from a spectacularly rare run...

I actually like the name "the Beast" for this set. As far as the Doyle Philadelphia, I remember reading that in an auction long ago of 147 e107 cards that card was one of the only ones missing. So not sure if you'll ever find one of those. It is cataloged as a known team variation though.

Here are the only two I own... hope to add more

Always been fascinated by the e-107 set.

There was a matthewson that showed up in one of the auctions and I seem to recall a Wagner last spring maybe?

Awesome stuff

Default E107

Shown multiple times, but this Williams is my one and only and it cries out for a little attention.

I've always liked this set and have a poster assembled by a board member proudly hung in my sports room. I do not own any today since my budget is allocated other places, but will add a few examples as the years progress.

Give me a call if you ever decide to sell that one.
