Wow! Just logged in to see where some of the T206s I've bid on are at, prices seem pretty high when you add in the BP. They seem way higher than what things have been ending on the bay? Granted some of the cards are pretty strong for their grade but.... I guess I'm missing something??? It almost seems this way with every auction house?? Why do the prices seem to end higher (with the BP) than what they go for on the bay?

Reg: Couldnt agree more. I here on the board about professional services, guarantees, etc. Ive won from 5 auction houses now, paid top dollar for every one, paid high shipping fees and some dont take cc or pp...PITFA. Ebay just seems to have less on it compared to the growing number on the auction houses with their outrageous BP....rant is over.

Default lot #1

lot #1 was a nice assortment of cards, went for $14000...

but i cant imagine all the GLUE on the back of those cards to keep them in place in such a strange circular display pattern...

also a mystery as to what backs there are...hmmm like rolling the dice maybe?

I agree completely. The lot of Matty, Young and Johnson SGC 30s had my eye, but at that price w/premium, I was convinced I could do better on Ebay.

Default somebody

Somebody else seems to be collecting the photos used to make cards with. The little Double Play Greenberg - Newsome combo cost me a few pretty pennies.

To expound on the above thoughts, there are some folks who don't have the time or inkling to mess with ebay anymore, therefore they bid strong in auctions which cater to their interests.

If anybody here won Lot #6 which was (59) SGC50 T206s, there is one Hall of Famer in that group that I would really like to get my hands on.

PM or email if you are interested in parting with one of your HOFers.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The lot of 103 SGC 40 T206s went for a 50% premium over eBay in my opinion.

What exactly do these auction houses do that caters so much to these folks? I am no high roller, and as usual Im sure I am missing something. But I typically pay more in shipping, wait longer to get the item and pay more to win it in the first place. I just seem to be finding less on ebay these days and am using the auction houses more out of necessity than desire. Not trying to bag on the auction houses, just staing the truth in my limited experience.

You answered your own question. Also, How about the dozens of shady auctions, reprints, fraud and so forth on ebay? Of course auction houses aren't perfect but you don't see the amount of issues you do on ebay, not even remotely close imo. That being said I still like ebay, even with it's pimples.
