Default Let's See Your Holy Grail - Prize Possession - #1 Item

Only been on NET54 for the past month and haven't had an opportunity to see everyone's Holy Grail - Prize Possession - #1 Card. I don't collect early cards, but this was my prize possession - 1986 Michael Jordan Rookie Card PSA 9, which he signed in 1987. Bought it raw on Ebay for $650. Sent it to PSA. Sold it for $4,000. Let's see yours!

I"m with you Bob. Nothing beats those years of skating and 80s cards for me.

I've really gotten into the vintage hockey lately. Love the C56 set and this Taylor card. But I think I like this skateboard more. Took me over 10 years to finally find an original unused Tony Hawk that matched the one I got for Xmas 1985.

I bought this at a show in Anaheim from Mike Berkus. Encapsulated it many years later:

I wanted a Groucho signed Bowman card but never thought I'd find one. I mean, what are the chances, right? Then I was surfing eBay one night [insomnia] and there it was. BIN:

As I have collected cards, historic newspapers, and other artifacts, the holy grail for me was to obtain a contemporary image of Billy The Kid while he was still alive. There is only one known photograph of him, so really this very rare woodcut form an 1881 issue of the Illustrated Police News is the only way to obtain my Grail. Note that it is the same image of the lone famous photo.

Default Great 80s Cards

This was the only card that I put in a toploader when I was a kid. I remember purchasing it from a baseball card store in a mall for some obscene sum like $50-60. When I re-entered the hobby a few years ago, managed to find it at my parents' home and had it holdered for protection.

Just FYI - a second verified photo of Billy the Kid was found recently. Google Billy the Kid photo and you should be able to find an article about it. Some guy bought it in a Fresno shop for $2 and now it's worth millions.

First thought about the family- as they are a prized possession, then i realized, you meant cards.

So here is my #1 card, as expected by most post-war guys, generally the most expensive:

Default Dream came true

Saw a picture of one of these in a Baseball Cards Magazine in 1983 (I was 12). Dreamed of owning one. Dream became reality finally in 2009

One of the very few images of "the greatest athlete ever produced in the state of Washington", and African American labor leader Ernie Tanner (ca. 1905-07 Tacoma track):

I have already owned and sold my holy grail cards: Mino Wagner throwing and Goodwin Kelly. Someday I might be wealthy enough to reacquire them - the two-card Mino set of both Wagner poses, that is generally on ebay, would definitely be mine if I had the funds.

With a lot of cards graded 9 and 10 that are evidenced of being trimmed has this been a problem with MJ rookie cards? Not saying that this one is, just a general question. And may be a dumb question at that.
thanks

Default Grail

As far as cards, it might be a tie. My Propagandas Montiel DiMaggio, or my US Army WWII post card.
Of anything in my collection, it might be my DiMaggio jersey that I just got.

Wow Mike. Totally amazing card and what a gift from an amazing wife. She must come from quite a great family with a loving brother that spent countless hours finding this beautiful example for a great price.

These are tied with about 5 other others but here you go--the cabinet is in an SGC 2.5 holder, the Allegheny is the only one in existence.

Some really great looking cards and memorabilia. I can only image what the rest of everyone's collections look like.

Here is my prized pre-war.

Not necessarily my holy grail (it's my avatar) but this is possibly my favorite image on a baseball card...... I have seen 5s-7s I don't care for as much as this lowly 2.5...

I had been looking for this postcard for over two years. Then not only was I able to get a copy, but it is signed by the entire team as well. I was speechless.

Then later that same month I was able to get the original contract and the team signed foldout with Jimmie Foxx...nearly fell off my chair. All three of these in one month. They all beat anything I have gotten in my years of collecting AAGPBL items.
