Default Your 2013 Baseball Card Resolution

Just started the e98 set from scratch in November, and I'm already down to 6. So, my #1 goal is completing that set.

All goals:
1) complete e98 set (down to 6 more needed)

2) start a new caramel set (maybe e93 or e95)?

3) keep working through the monster alphabetically (make it through the letter "B" by the end of the year...currently own the first 5)

4) obtain half of the 1952 Topps set in any condition (currently at about 50 total cards)

5) get to the 1/4 point with t205 set...currently own just 17 cards

6) get to 60 1955 Topps PSA 8 cards. Currently at 43 cards.

OTHER GOALS:
1) write a baseball card related article
2) finally start writing a book. Been wanting to do that for a few years
3) remember what it was like to be under 200 pounds???

It'll be fun for us to revisit this in December! What are your goals? Perhaps we can even help each other out a little just by listing these goals. Who knows?!

Jimi

2) Complete the D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit Set.
3) Make it to Chicago for National and have a great time with fellow Net54ers.

1. To reach 100+ t206 cards
2. To have at least 22 Hall of Famers
3. To obtain at least one more missing ink card
4. To acquire 3 more backs which I need for my back run.

Best of luck everyone!

260, that's a pretty lofty goal.

Good luck!

I'm hoping to go this year again, Bob. I haven't been to one since the 2007 show in Cleveland. We will need to try and go to a game again! Since our teams suck so bad, I suppose we could watch a better team play in Chicago (not the Cubs, of course!)

1. Add to my low quality/low cost t206 set(have 28 in the last 2 months)

2. Work on my signed 1976 topps set. Have over 210 signed so far.

3. Possibly continue/possibly sell my 1969 topps set with about 180 of them signed.

4. Get more autographs in my "Topps 40 Years of Baseball" book. Sitting at 613 signatures in the book with 50 HOF.
That seems like more than enough to keep me busy this year.

So I'm coming at this from more of a traditional "resolution" angle for my collection as opposed to goals of what I want to obtain over the next 362 days.

1- Nail down my collecting goals

2- Become more organized. Everything from keeping better track my purchases, scanning my collection, to being more proactive in plotting out my targets in auctions when the previews become available.

Number 1 proved quite ellusive to me in 2012. I started then dropped a number of sets as other sets and topics caught my interest. Any goals I set in 2012 were constantly changing and morphing as the year went on. I'm slowly coming to the realization that I might not be a set collector but more a HOF type collector.

1. Spend less than $1000 on cards this year (bought too much in '12).

2. Enjoy the cards I do have, rather than looking to add more that I don't really need.

3. Live vicariously through others' pickups posted here and on other forums.

Finish my T200 set. I have the difficult cards; I just need to add Cleveland (AL) and the sort-of-difficult card for NY (AL).

1. Move up out of the 50's on the Monster Number List. (I started at #51 six months ago, added 136 cards and now sit at #55)
2. Balance collecting and staying married.
3. Enjoy the scraps of cardboard that I cherish and most folks don't understand.
3a. Accept the fact that they never will.

1- I give myself a pass on this. My collecting goals are more refined now, but I seem to keep adding topics/goals. Currently its T209 b&w, Max Carey, HOFers and M101-4/5

2- I have made great progress in this one. Acquired a fancy new scanner and I'm not the unorganized mess I was before in regards to tracking my collection.

ORIGINAL POST
1. For my Ted Williams Master set, obtain the last two 1947 Menko cards I need, as well as a R303A/V351 Williams Rookie card.
2. T206--Obtain 10 more HOF's (currently at 52) including at least 1 Cobb and 1 rare back version of Chance Yellow
3. T205--Complete my Mordecai Brown back run (minus the Drum)
4. Buy my first Old Judge card (preferably a HOF player)

TO DATE:
1. Obtained 1/2 of the Williams menko backs that I needed. Also obtained the "new" prize of my Williams set, the 1939 R303A Williams.
2. Picked up a Baker PSA3 and a Walsh PSA2, no other progress here
3. I got nothin'
4. Picked up a Jimmy Ryan batting Old Judge SGC1 (not a HOF, but a start).

Still some work.

Original goals:

1) Get to 100 T206: reaching 8 T206 HOFs and 6 Old Mill SL.
2) Get to 24 1933 Goudeys in PSA 6
3) Continue to add PSA 10 Basic Ripkens and E210 York Caramels

So far....

I have already hit 112 T206 with 9 Hof and 8 Old Mill SL.
I am at 18 Goudeys (6 to go), but one of my additions was a Ruth, so if I fall short, I don't really care.
My Ripken Basic Registry just hit #5 All-Time and I'm over halfway on my Yorks.
I completed my Orioles Team HOF RC set by adding Hoyt Wilhelm's 52 Topps!!!

So far I've let go of several extra items, picked up one on the list and waiting for the spring auctions. Not to shabby.

So it's March and I've about maxed out my card budget for the year. Time to list more shiny stuff on eBay to fund my vintage fix.

That's a remarkable achievement, your screen name is quite apropos, being able to keep your cost/card down that low.

Thanks... it's time consuming, but fun. I've sold about 2000 T206s since 2010 to support my habit.

Who knows?!

For me, it's kinda sad:

1) Got to within 1 card of completing the e98 set, and then sold the whole thing.

2) YEAH...started the e95 set. I have about half of it.

3) I stopped working on the monster alphabetically. LOL I'm now working on a t206 McGraw back run....and doing well with it.

4) Sold my original batch of '52s, but slowly rebuilding it again. Only have like 20-30 cards.

5) Dropped the T205 project altogether.

6) 1955s are no all gone, too.
