I was rooting through my collection and came up with an extra T205 Shean.

It is free to anyone who wants it.

The catch is that in order to claim this card, you must post in this thread, and that post must contain a pre-1920 card of your own that is up for grabs, for anyone to claim. Doesn't have to be anything special, but it can't be crap either. Claims should probably be limited to one per person, at least for now I think.

Make sure to include your email addy in your post, so you the person that claims your card can send your their postage address. I don't know if this is gonna catch on at all, but I thought it might be good way to to hook people up with a new card that they want.

I don't think this could be considered crap; it's just from an obscure set of minor league players. This is a T210 Red Border of Laughlin, of Danville, VA.

Just to clarify my condition of "no crap"... by crap I mean torn in half, chewed on my herds of tiny mice, etc. That T210 was really nice, people shouldn't feel obligated to give up cards like that. Thanks Dave, for the generous offering by the way.


That Ira Thomas pin is nice but also lonely. There must be a collector here who doesn't have a P2 pin already in their collection who can find a nice home for this one. And it's free! (as long as you keep the ball rolling of course).

I'll claim Julie's Egan. What I have isn't much. You can have your choice of either card. The Dykes looks nice but there is a small slit in the card about 1/8" doesn't show on the front. The Dykes is a World Wide Gum card with bilingual back.

(looks better in person, comparable to a gem mint Henry Aaron RC, except for the yawning crevice across the card, the soft, rounded corners, and the suggestion of dirt, which gives the rather pleasing patina...)

Just received my beautiful T210 Laughlin Old Mill card from Dave. Thanks so much. Not only is it a great catcher card for my Minor League catcher type card collection, but it also happens to be my sister's last name by marriage. Bonus! So many thanks to Dave Whipple for making it available and to Ben for starting this cool thread. A great way to get a new card and pass on a duplicate issue for someone else to enjoy. Old time collecting at it's best!

For the sake of keeping this thread rolling, could we stick to the pre-1920 condition as stated in the initial post? I love the variety we've seen already in this thread. However, the t206s seem to slow things down a bit, so if we could keep things varied, I think the thread would benefit as a whole.

I can't help but think of the movie "Pay It Forward" when I read this link. In the movie, for every good deed that you receive, you have to give three good deeds to others. That way, the good deed tree grows exponentially. To make this link move faster, you might want to require three cards donated for every one card accepted. Now, that might result in three lesser value/condition cards being offered for the one, but given the good nature of the board members, I think it might not. Plus, there would be a ton of free cards on here if we could ever get it moving like that. And I think that would be pretty special.

Oh, and in my hopes that people continue to post T206 cards in this link, I should note that I would have gone for the Egan or the Overall if I didn't already had them in my collection.
