Default A Rookie Seeking Some Wisdom on These....

Posted By: Iggy

Picked this T206 Doolan in a large lot I purchased a while back (the one on the right). The back is a Piedmont 350 (has some back damage). Needless to say, I've never seen one with a ball, is this legit or did someone get creative.

These pictures came via a scrapbook. They are from a newspaper; paper thin and with newspaper stuff on the back side. They are numbered on the front with the following words at the bottom: "Cut these out and save them. You'll have a ready reference baseball gude of all your favorites." The set collector in me would like to know what newspaper they came out of??? The scrapbook was from the early 30's thru the early 40's, so they have to be from that era. Any help/info be appreciated.

Looks like it is missing some ink. Is the "ball" a chip to the card surface? If not, it is likely a printing flaw.

The "ball" is many sizes too small, no? It is either paper loss, a defect, or someone playing with the card.

Okay, first of all, let me apologize to the couple of yuz who looked at their T206 Doolan card. Upon a real close inspection, I'm certain that the ball was painted or stamped on the card (by an artist, because he or she did a great job). I'm a little embarresed for not noticing before posting it on this board, but sometimes what is obvious can be hard to see. With the National approaching, I'm hopefull this thread will quickly disappear into oblivion, so I may remove my dunce cap without too may people noticing.

-Lovely Day, Iggy...

Don't be too hard on yourself, Iggy. I think that you are on to one heck of a collectible with those DoublePlay type of newspaper cutouts.
