What a nice surprise!!!!!

Buying a nice creaseless E98 Ty Cobb at auction with red background and a tiny, tiny bit of back damage for a great price and then finding the auction house (Lelands) goofed and the card they sold me was an E94 red Cobb (same picture) which sells for 2.5x the E98. |

What a nice surprise!!!!!

I won the red backed Crofts lot in the last Mastro and have sold all of the cards other than the few I wanted. In the lot there was listed an E97 Steinfeldt. Until the end of my auction I had not looked carefully enough at my references to know what I had. It is the no "t" version of his last name. It went for about 3x what I thought it would. The surprises are still defintitely out here in the hobby for those that are very well educated on them. Sort of like when Tom B. bought the 2 caramel cards at the National from the guy that told him they had some kind of printing on the back of them They were ultra rare E94 overprints, one of which is now in my collection....regards all |

If it was my lot that had been mislabeled, there'd be hell to pay. Nice snag, though. Reminds me of the time Lelands sold me a lot of mixed cards that actually turned out to be several complete sets. What a pack of morons. |
