Default SGC Grading Code Question

Thanks Matt.

Odd thing is I told them to cross them over irrespective of the grade.

I wonder if it will come back in the PSA holder. We'll see.

As an aside it was disheartening to see that two cards I bought raw off the B/S/T are coming back in "A" holders.

Steve,
They will encapsulate only with an "A" grade if you ask them to. Sounds like you already did. I'd call Michal Goldberg ASAP (before it ships) so he can make sure that happens if thats what you want.
Good Luck,
Scott.

No problem with the two cards being slabbed "A". I spoke with Michael a couple of times during the process and advised him that if a card was found to be trimmed or altered that an "A" slab was OK.

My point was that I bought "trimmed" cards.

Scott - I believe they only update the grade in your submission report when it ships, but if they did miss your instruction, I'm sure Michael will make it right without charging you shipping again.

Steve - as far as the trimmed cards from the BST, I'd contact the sellers. I also bought a raw card on the BST that came back as trimmed, but the seller honored a refund and covered the grading costs.

Default SGC Grading Code Question

Posted By: Jimi

When recently having my Caramelos graded, I had requested to have any of them to be encapsulated with an A as well, and I did talk to Michael on the phone. All were graded except for one because he felt one of the corners would literally fall off upon being slabbed. Stinks for me not getting one card out of 100 not slabbed, but I do appreciate their efforts in not ruining one of my cards.

Jimi

Default SGC Grading Code Question

Posted By: David R

I had a card recently come back as "minimum size requirements not met," but the card was not deemed to be trimmed. SGC did not grade or holder that card. I assume it would get an authentic holder if I asked.

It seems to me that a card that is in great condition but is a little short because the factory miscut it 90 years ago should get a grade, but what do I know?

I just spoke with one of the SGC representatives, unfortunately, the minimum size requirements and miscut designations are still subjective. In other words, it is up to the grader, as to whether or not the card edges and lengths are within reasonable tolerances to receive a straight grade.
