Default WIWAG: The real story?

What was the story behind the PSA WIWAG scandal? Who was all involved and how many cards?

My favorite part has always been that it was an individually numbered Bonzi Wells card that got them caught. yep, Bonzi Freakin' Wells. Card not worth a buck today in ANY slab.

OP just has to be careful not to read PSA's version of the story by way of their Press Releases. Sad truth is that due to PSA's lack of disclosure and in an effort to make it go away, they did not release much information about the fraud.

I never heard about this one, and from what I found while searching, it isn't the only questionable business practice PSA has been caught up in.

I guess I am naive thinking the current issues with regards to scams, fakes, forgeries are fairly new as I was surprised to see these shenanigans have been going on for quite a long time

I just wasted about 15 minutes on that old Net54baseball thread. Please refrain from posting anymore of the thousands like it. I am almost 55 yrs old and don't have the time to re-read the last 15 yrs of threads. So many rabbit holes to go down..
