Found a ball need help!
Got this at an auction today, it was mixed in with the usual baseball paraphernalia bobble heads ect. Won the lot for $7, it would have went cheaper but the guy who works there does not like me and bid me up like a douche because he knows I only buy when I think I'm getting an amazing deal.
Anyway, I was nervous all auction because I know if it is real I have something here! Ball looks to be 1930's. |

43 sox
Great snag! Especially for 7 bucks! I concur with Nate that it is a 43 ball... HAll of Famer Al Simmons only season with the sox was 1943, and he does appear on your ball.
congrats! |

I think you are right on the date 1941-1943 most likely 1943. Cool!
I found a "Who's Who In Baseball" book from the 1930's signed by Walter Big Train Johnson and plenty other Cleveland Indians at an estate sale for $1. It was also signed by announcers and other people related to the team and was clearly authentic. I was hard up at the time and had no mind for collecting and put it up for bid on ebay and it only sold for just over $600... Lesson learned! I posted it here when I found it. The Walter Johnson auto I sold was tipped into another book. I found it for sale on ebay, it was certainly my Johnson. You can tell it is my Johnson because it is a little deformed (the pen ran out of ink). Last edited by bullgill; 01-02-2016 at 08:26 PM. |

I am guessing value of this ball would be 400 or so.

Were facsimile signed balls around back then? The signatures look too even and proportionate to me to be real.

I worry about some of those sigs look to be crashing into the stitch line, but the ink is still smooth.
I would think it might be facsimile? |

I get a cut on your EBay listing when you sell it for coming up with the year. :-)
