Default Medwick Granger Sign--Help Please

In the current Clean Sweep auction (lot #684), there is a cardboard Granger Medwick sign. I've seen the repro made from tin. Were there any originals made from anything besides cardboard? I've been looking for one of these on and off for some time and this is the only original I have seen for auction. I just assumed originals would also be tin for some reason. Thanks.

I used to have a group of Granger signs (no baseball) of sports stars of the day and they were all heavy cardboard.
