Default T206 Puttman sale on ebay

Can anyone shed some light or thoughts on the final hammer price for this SGC 30. I guess its tough, looked thru my log of 600 cards and had one in vg that I sold.

My best guess is that perhaps 2 different bidders erroneously assumed that Louisville was a Southern League team.

I have no idea what happened with that card. It used to be a fairly run-of-the-mill common but has acquired quasi-Southern League status. It now seems to command strong prices on a fairly regular basis, but even by its recently conferred - and undeserved, I believe - status, this sale sure looks like an outlier.

I forget which person it is, and I forget which T206 common it is, but someone on the Board has a good size (maybe 20+) collection of a specific T206 common. I don't recall what thread I remember reading that on. Perhaps this is that common?

guys, Puttman is by far the hardest.........At one time, I had about 60 or so of them.....(Living in Louisville). About 35 or so Delehanty, 18-20 Thielman's and only 5-6 Puttmans.

That seller seems to always get top dollar for his vintage cards too.

I think he has quite a following.

One of the reasons this T206 card is tough to find is because it was printed on very few T-brand backs.
It can be found with only the following backs......

Carolina Brights
El Principe de Gales
Piedmont 350
Polar Bear
Sweet Caporal 350, Factory 30
Tolstoi
