Default Fat Border T210's

Posted By: paulstratton

I love the look of the fat border T210's. Is every card in the set possible with a fat border? ...or are they only possible on certain cards? Any reasons why some of them would have large borders and others not? Was this due to where they were located on the sheet? Let's see some other examples.

The large border cards are usually only found on Series 2 cards, but occasionally on type 8's that have been hand cut. I'm not sure why the type 2's have the huge borders, but they sure due... Be well Brian

PS They are also the easy seiers to collect. So have fun...

I agree with Brian, that most of fat border T210's are from series 2. These are, Messitt and Revelle, both from the Richmond team, series 2. And my impression has been that not all cards have fat border varieties, but that there are certain cards, like these we've posted, that are that way. I think that if other folks posted a Messitt card or a Revelle card, that their card would have the 'fat border' too.

The red border Old Mill set of cards is one amazing set... some cards aren't as plentiful as others, it seems.

I only have about 25 T210s, but in my small sampling, I find the opposite is true. The only fat borders I have are from Series 8. The T210s are becoming one of my favorite sets although I doubt I will ever attempt to complete one of the series.

Nice cards, Martin. If you only have 25 of 'em, you've done well gathering several series 8 cards!!

Have you any series 2s with wide borders?

I am certain I encountered series 2s with wide borders more often than series 8s. That could be because series 8s are encountered about a tenth as often as series 2s.

So I still think folks are most likely to find a wide border card by finding one that is from series 2. And maybe that is because series 2s are more plentiful.

Martin, have you any duplicates where some are wide border and some aren't?? The other series 8 Babb I've seen had a wide border like yours.

Hi Frank,

Here are a couple more series 8s. One with a wide border and one without. They are probably the only wide borders I have. The 10 series 2s all have regular borders and the few series 1s and 3s are also pretty normal. Most of the wide borders I have seen were series 2 though. Got to get back to the tarheel nailbiter.
