American Caramel E77 Master Set
The good news is there aren't many things left for me to ask for help on . My purpose is to confirm every possible card in the T and E boxing sets I love. One of the few suspected gaps I have left is E77.
In the E77 American Caramel series, some of the horizontal image subjects can be found with the caption on either side of the fighter. One version is very tough and the other the 'common' one, but whether the caption at left or the caption at right version is the common one changes from subject to subject. I have seen claims that the name at right is the tough one, but this is NOT true. Which one is scarer varies by the subject. 5 subjects are proven to come both ways: Abe Attell, Kaufman/Johnson, Benny Kaufmann, Ketchel, and Owen Moran. The others I have not found or been shown an image of coming both ways. The cards I am seeking to validate (I strongly doubt all actually exist; this variation is likely something to do with what a sheet looked like) are:. Tommy Burns, name to right of image Hackenschmidt, name to right of image Sam Langford, name to left of image Harry Lewis, name to right of image Packey McFarland, name to left of image Bat Nelson and Ad Wolgast, name to left of image Jack O'Brien, name to right of image Billy Papke, name to right of image Ad Wolgat and Bat Nelson, name to right of image If anyone has these, or an image of them, I would greatly appreciate if they would be willing to share. Attached is an example of what I am talking about. Last edited by G1911; 12-15-2023 at 05:45 PM. |

I have 8 left & right variations documented in my checklist but only have 4 in my collection. The other 3 I have documented:
Leo Houck, name to left of image - Have Sam Langford, name to left of image Ad Wolgat and Bat Nelson, name to right of image |

Removed Houck from the target list in the OP; one was shown. I'm sure some of these on the list exist, but probably not all of them. Either answer will provide us significant evidence on the production (sheet layout vs. multiple printings).

I do not have any of the variations.
I would like to put out there that if anyone has a spare Ferguson or Gotch, please let me know! |
