I've seen many holdered, but all had black text (until recently that is). Any of you folks own a blue text version, that is authentic? Thanks, Steve F

Steve,

I only have a couple and they have black text. One thing I did notice is that my Cobb is missing the color for the "treeline" at the bottom.

Josh, Specifically, that one you had shown me before, in the 'mislabeled' holder please. I believe it's an anomaly. Thankyou

I always have been under the impression that all the blue print W551's are reprints, I believe originally from sets produced by Larry Fritsch Cards.

I have both the black and blue print Frank Baker. The paper on the blue print feels like authentic strip card paper to me. It seems to be slightly different than the paper of the black print, but not hugely different. Is there a Net54 temp place I post a scan that will display here?

Andy

one of them is Casey, who seems to be in everybody's collection...

and the other is Tris Speaker, probably the most beat-up card I own ...

But thanks for asking anyway.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Cobb I posted with the missing tree line color in backgrround? Does anyone else have a similar example?

You should still have it in your E-mail that I sent you. Go back and look at your old mail and the one I sent you. I am in Florida the 17th, if you deleted it I will resend when I get home.

I'm interested in everyone's opinion of my blue Baker that Steve posted for me. Is this one of Frisch's reprints, or legit?

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

Yes, I believe, based on the scan, your Barker is a reprint.

There was a reprint w551 Ruth on eaby a week or so ago (listed under boxing, so maybe not everyone saw it).
It also had that extra layer of Red color, as well as the blue type.

Scott

If that is the case than the grading companies are grading the reprints. I have a Baker just like the one scanned and SGC graded it. I will post a scan when I get back into town.

Fritsch couldn't think of another way to make a few bucks? Another hobby genius.
