Nice pick-up, Julie. My bid wasn't quite strong enough. I suppose I'll have to wait for the next one to come around.

my two E90-1 Oakes cards have better color than my Nadja I recently picked up. I would venture to guess that the super color in your E92 Nadja accounted for the nice grade given the corners are Vg to VG/EX. That is a nice, clean and unfaded Oakes with very vibrant colors - Great Card!

As for recent pickups, they are (sorry no scans - took up too much space trying to scan those darn Cocoas last "new card" thread):

SGC 40 E104-1 Mack (Thanks Robert!)
SGC 10 E98 Mack "On the Crapper, w/Newspaper!" (Thanks again Robert)
Soon to be SGC 10 E98 Cobb (Ditto!)
SGC 40 Dockman Chance
SGC 40 E95 Cicotte (Thanks Wesley!)
SGC 30 E93 Collins (Ditto!)
SGC 30 E93 Brown (Ditto!)
SGC 40 E93 McGraw (Ditto Again!)
and a PSA 6 O/C 1959 Topps Mantle (Should go well with my SGC 60 T206 Rhoades Arm Extended that Jay and Lee are fascinated with!)

I picked up a nice T3 Turkey Red of Joe Tinker, a couple of OJS (Keefe and Hanlon) as well as 10 T206 Cubs, including Tinker, Evers, Chance and Brown. A friend was selling his old Cubs collection (including a program for the 1938 Yankees Cubs World Series and other 1940s cubs Programs).

I am taking them over to show Leon soon, and will try to post some pictures when he shows me how to do that.

The thumbnails are set up in a HTML table. A link is then attached to each thumbnail taking you to a new HTML page with a larger embedded image and card description.

If only I had $4500, then I could buy some cards and this TV. The TV only cost me $1800 It was a closeout model, so I got a good deal.

I only have 3 vices, baseball cards, my computer and my home theatre system. My TV 12 years old when it died, so I was way past due to get a new TV. PLus, when my computer monitor dies, I have no need to buy a new one of those.

Picked up this interesting group in their original envelope. Invitations to the Monitor Base Ball Club's Ball. The social events were primary and base ball was secondary to most of these clubs.

I just can't bring myself to sell the red Cobb right now, afterall I just got it. Right now my interest is collecting Cobb cards with different backs and I needed this one. I still have regrets about the last Cobb card I sold.

In regards to the Gaynor auction, after looking at the group of Mantles' lot that he is offering for bid, given the condition of the cards WHY in the world would have ANYONE submitted those cards to psa for grading? Can ANYONE PLEASE explain this to me? My recent purchases just today (June 12, 2005) include a 1952 Topps Bob Feller and a 1968 Topps Johnny Bench (rookie card)SORRY folks, NOT too many people here in Des Moines, Iowa have TRUE VINTAGE stuff. I have to settle with what I can get my hands on!

You are encroaching on my turf...I live in Ames.

Just kidding.

Have you had ANY luck finding vintage material locally? I scan the auction listings, classifieds etc., hoping for "the find", but all I ever seem to come up with is boxes of 1980's Donruss.

SOMEBODY had to smoke around here back then, right?

Anyway, best of luck!

The Doyle (renovated--looks mint) and my Chase sold for exactly the same price $749.50--"reserve met ." Nobody was within $200 of me on the Chase, or $75 of suesvoices on the Doyle. Winner of the three-card lot in REA is keeping the Mathewson..lot was 3K.

I recently purchased the postcard on the left (can't make out the postal date). I was surprised to see it had the same photo as an old blank back card I have. By the way anybody know what the card is? date, type or origin?

I have one of each, a postcard and tobacco size card. The postcard has a canceled one cent stamp on back. I bought the postcard because it had the same picture as my card. No idea what the card is, I've had it for a long time now. Any help would be appreciated.

Andrew,

I can help you out with identifying one of your tickets. Because I have the same exact one in my collection, as well. It's the Livingston Park baseball club general admission ticket. With Phillips/Cleary mgrs. I bought mine from sportsartifacts for $20.00 (www.sportsartifacts.com) The description on the sales receipt states the following.......Turn of the century (1890's-1900's) Livingston Park baseball ticket. the "gate number" or "admission number" (I'm guessing that's what it is) is 005465.

Best Regards,

Adam J. Moraine
