Hey Matt
I do have a small concern about the legitimacy of this card. It looks too grainy but since I think I see a slab (PSA clear) I was thinking they wouldn't grade a fake.....I am sure I can tell in person in 2 seconds.....but please let me know your thoughts.....Another board member emailed me about it too and says he feels it might not be good........

leon - the one you posted has 2 significant differences. The corners are much less rounded and the image is much lighter. Matt S - can we see the full scan to see how it is slabbed?

I know...yes, I would like to see the slab of the original one if there is one. I have seen many reprints and most look like the 1st one but we'll see.....regards

Not wanting to interfere, but add me to the list of those skeptical of the legitimacy of the Jackson. I have owned several sets of these and the authentic cards all have rounded corners like those on Leon's and the ones pictured below. The fakes that have been circulating from this set have the tell-tale "super-rounded" corners and a much grainier photo quality.

Here is the full scan of the slab... I do not know much about this set. I bought it back in 2005 from Louis Bollman.

The letters in FOUL and FLY are fatter in the PSA 1 than the PSA 5.

I would contact PSA as they should buy that one back, however, knowing PSA they have probably already decommisioned the cert # after seeing your post.

The PSA certification numbers match up on their site and I emailed them about this. We'll see what happens. They will probably just erase it out of their system.

Matt,
If it turns out that this card is, in fact, fake and you are unable to get the situation resolved with the grading company please contact me and I will personally refund your purchase price. I do not remember this card specifically but I think (if my memory serves me correct)it was part of a lower-grade collection of star cards that were consigned to me by a Chicago area collector. Not an excuse but I hope this helps.

Louis

Matt, before returning the thing, please check the edge seam, under magnification... Pry marks, crazing, glue residue, excessive frosting etc. when compared to other slabs.

I've cracked many of these and although they fit back together easily, there was always some slight damage remaining.

PSA has rejected my 'vintage' counterfeits that were more convincing than this. Altered or trimmed perhaps, but I'm doubtful this imposter slipped through.
