Default How did this get an Ex grade?

Sorry to drag yet another PWCC auction into the mix. But I'm dizzy from shaking my head on this one. Is that not paper loss on the back of the Ott? Big difference from slight wear.

It got the grade because it deserved it. Also how dare you, PWCC is an honest seller. I know a guy that personally talks to Brent and he assures me he is a good guy.

Default How did this get an Ex grade?

Simple fact which remains as true today as it did 20+ years ago: They miss things. Often. Sometimes big things. Sometimes perhaps on purpose for entities like PWCC, sometimes not on purpose for average, Joe Blow collectors like me.

Last year I had a ‘68 Topps Willie Stargell in a hologrammed PSA 7 slab. On the back, the lower left corner was both creased and flipped-up. Huh? It should have been like a 4.

It's my belief that the Grade is dependent upon whom submits the card.

I re-watched Bill and Ted recently. I called everything and anything excellent for a week after.

I guess my great looking example of this Ott card, which has staple holes, is a $400 card after it slips past the graders like this one did.

To be honest that card could be a Gem Mint 10 compared to some cards I just seen listed for sale as Nr Mint that are VG-EX at best.

PSA must be getting tough. Usually a PWCC card with those flaws would get a 7 from PSA. If I submitted it it would get a 2, but it is an objective standard. PSA objectivity looks at how much I submit and then objectively looks at how much they submit

I would bet you've submitted more to them in the past 6 months than Brent has... ;-)
But look at their Facebook page: they just graded 3 new FRESH TO THE MARKET 1952 TOPPS MANTLES. Believe it or not, I'm walking on air.

Actually new to the market? Or "new" like a restored car?

Yeah, they're getting heckled for posting it. I asked whether it was Evan Mathis or Gary Moser that submitted... ;-)
