Default '54 Topps Whitey Ford and '65 Carlton RC

I got lucky and picked this up in the group break. The card is super nice, with 4 sharp corners and no creases. The only thing wrong with this card would be the t/b centering. IMO, it would probably grade a 7 o/c, maybe an 8 o/c.

Looking to trade for any NM or better HOFers or stars (Rose, Mays, Clemente, Aaron, Ryan, etc) from the '70 thru '75. Also interested in '71 and '72 NM high numbers.

Adding a Carlton RC too...

Just back from PSA in their new tamper proof holder. I really thought this one was a 7.

Again, not for sale - trades only.

The Carlton looks nice David. Looks like 7 corners. I think the centering is what got you the '6'.

More than adequate centering for a 7, IMO.

Would you care to explain? Whatever you know or don't know, we can all see the centering from the scan, so what's the back story?

I bought the card graded an SGC 60 (5). I could tell from the scan, the card was undergraded. Once I got it in hand, I couldn't see any flaws that made it grade a 5, so I cracked it out with intentions of sending it back to SGC to have it re-graded. When Bobby offered the group sub, I thought I would send it to PSA instead.

That said, I think the card's corners are PSA 7 worthy, but I think Bobby is right that the centering is holding it back from a 7 (although I have definitely seen worse 7s).

I think the unibrow on ol' Fritz is what's holding it back!

You're right, it shouldn't be a 7.

David's card is centered well enough to be a 7 in this or any other era. Obviously SGC, which cares next to nothing about centering, graded it a 5 due to corner wear or some other issue, the same one PSA saw.
