Default Joe Pelaez Service at Arlington

Several Net54ers were there this morning as part of the large group of family and friends to honor Joe in the very hot and humid weather. There was an official photographer documenting the service as well as many attendees had their cameras out - here are a couple of pictures from my blackberry. The Marines on the hill fired the volleys for the 21-gun salute. The Marine bugler saluted the family as they walked past and later played Taps. This upcoming weekend will be the Chantilly Show where I've been trading with Joe for at least 10 years, most recently in April. It won't be the same without him.

Thanks Andy. I wish I could have been there as the cemetary is 10 minutes from my house. Yep, Chantilly won't be the same.

Thank you, Andy, for the photographs. It was the first invitation to Arlington that I'd ever received. Work beckoned, I did that instead of traveling to the funeral. I paused for a moment at 9am central, thinking of Joe. The images you posted fill in the mental blanks I have about the process. Thank you for going.

Thanks for the photos, Andy. And Joe, this Chantilly show is dedicated to you. I'll think of you often over the weekend. I hope they have great old cards in heaven.

My sincere condolences to Joe's family. He was a wonderful man to talk with. He was funny, witty and very informative on the sets that he collected. He always wanted to help others out with their collections. I don't know how many times that he tried to help to get people to go to the Chantilly show. He did this to help the dealers, not himself. It was totally unselfish.

I will deeply miss him. He always came to my table, sat with me and talked for a good while on a multitude of topics. He would sit and tell me so many great stories. He was a wonderful man to know. I am truly sorry that I missed his service. Thank you for sharing this with the members

Sincerely,

Cy

Thanks for posting Andy.

Joe and I agreed to meet for the first time in Chantilly this Friday, I'm truly sorry I won't have that opportunity.

Thanks Andy. I'm sorry that I was not able to attend the funeral. It will be sad not being able to see Joe at all the Chantilly shows.
