Default OK Here's my question!

I have 518 t-206's 95 percent raw. I have only collected different fronts and am now crazily contemplating attempting all possible back variation (within reason I am not a multi millionaire).

Who can help me please with a MASTER CHECKLIST of all KNOWN t-206's with all KNOWN back variations. ( I realize this would number into the many thoiusands) Please help by sending me a checklist or directing me to a website that has a COMPLETE Checklist. I know it's crazy but I am thinking of selling off most of my other shit to finace this undertaking. What do ya'all tink?? am I nuts or what..I'm just addicted to em and can look for hour and hour day after day week after week decade after decade at them. I love them as my most prized posession. They comfort me. The closest thing to a time machine I know off. Aloha, dave. massconfusion1964@gmail.com

You can do a search on here for the backs names and come up with confirmed threads Ted Z and the board compiled together.

That's a mighty feat.

I would use Inside T206 by Scot Reader http://www.oldcardboard.com/t/t206/I...al-edition.pdf

As well I use Bill Brown's spreadsheet, between the two you can get a fairly accurate list of potential back/front cards.

I would say Wow

This past weekend I was checking out the following website. On the left hand side of the page is Bill Brown's Super Set Checklist/Spreadsheet.

Best of Luck

Nevermind, Chris already pointed out what I was going to say.

Keep in mind that new combos are found every so often. So these checklists are a work-in-progress.

Cool! I figure If I average about 10 a week plus the 518 I already have I could get close in about 10 years...does that sound about right? Aloha, Dave.

Dave

I can't answer your question on how long it will take, but I think availability will be the biggest obstacle you will face. And I'm not talking about T206s with the rarer backs. Even T206s with less common backs will be difficult to find.

Default T206 Master Set

Scot Reader's "Inside T206", Bill Brown's "super-set" spread sheet, and my thread...."Consolidated access to the
15 - T206 T-brand (front/back) surveys......UPDATED" should provide you a good start on your adventure.

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...=132611&page=5

My thread accounts for 4312 front/back T206 permutations that have been confirmed. We have estimated that
there are approx. 5500 permutations for a T206 master set.

Wishing you lots of luck in this endeavor.

Default Thanx Ted Z.

Aloha Ted! Thanks very much for the advice. I will keep you posted on my progress. I will start in ernest after the first of the year. I am thinking of just starting with "A's" and getting a different type of back for each one, then B's etc. after ending the alphabet going back and starting with a third variation. I am go to start ebaying off my other stuff and consigning to auction houses the bigger stuff. The only other stuff I am keeping are my 33 goudeys 52 topps and 53 glendales and 72 topps, my favorite sets other than the monster. I'm loaded for bear and on a mission. Much Mahalos for your incredible interest and knowledge of this greatest of baseball card sets. Aloha, Dave Pierson.

How can you have around 4,312 confirmed examples and estimate 5,500 possible, when new examples are seldom found anymore?

Dave

If I may offer you some advice, don't go with the alphabetical approach, but rather acquire T206s by their backs and when they become available.

I would take this even one step further. Get any one you can get when ever it is available. Any other approach will just take longer. Dont pass on any one you need.

I agree. Thats exactly what I was trying to say.

I would bet common players will be harder to find than HOFers.

Wow is right !

Dont go selling your house there in HPP. you need that roof over your head with all this rain weve been having in Puna.

Aloha, good luck

PS I agree with picking up everything you need when they show, especially the tougher back.... some of them rarely show every year let alone every 5-10 years.

Some guys are still working on just one type backs (ie American Beauty 350, Polar Bear, etc.) and Im impressed with those collections and how tough they would be, and those 2 back are no where nearly as tough as the toughies...

Hi David, Just wanted to let you know that your not alone out there if you decide to tackle the Master Monster Set. I shifted my focus on the set at the beginning of 2011 and away from most other cards, comic books, stamps, and coins. So far, I average 2 cards a week with all being tougher backs. The 3 lists mentioned are great references. I use all 3 and also PSA and SGC population reports. The only advice I can give is just stick with it. Its possibly one of the most difficult set building tasks out there but thats what makes it fun.

That's a good question.....and, here is my answer.

I will qualify my above two numbers. First, my "Consolidated...." thread accounts for every T206 back (American Beauty - UZIT), except
for these 2.... Sweet Caporal sub-sets (Factory #25 and #42) cards. The Sweet Caporal, Factory #25 subset accounts for another 480
cards (approx.). And, the Sweet Caporal, Factory #42 sub-set accounts for another 60 cards (approx.). Therefore, the new total = 4996
(4312 + 624 + 60) cards.

I posted a thread 2 years ago regarding a "master set" estimate; and, at that time the number resulted in 5136 (given the information we
had in 2009). Here is a link to that thread......

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ter+set&page=4

Since then, I would say a better estimate may be anywhere from 5200 > 5500 front/back T206 permutations. Furthermore, recently there
have been some more finds (DRUM, LENOX, UZIT, etc.) that have trickled in new T206's. In any event, this subject matter will continue to
be a work in progress for a long time.

Best regards,

TED Z

TED Z
Ted - As you may know I've been studying the Sweet Caporal cards for sometime now trying to get a better idea of what was and was not printed with respect to each back.

Sweet Caporal 350-460 Factory 42 (No Overprint) = 46 Subjects (2 unconfirmed)
Sweet Caporal 150 Factory 25 = 153 Subjects (11 unconfirmed)

Sweet Caporal 350 Factory 25 and Sweet Caporal 350-460 Factory 25 are both still a work in progress. As many as 402 subjects were printed with the SC 350 No.25 back with a large number of them having been confirmed. The SC 350-460 No.25 group numbers no more than 69 with all but 15 being confirmed to date.

Total number of Sweet Caporal Factory 25 believed possible at this time = 624

These confirmed numbers are not the results of surveys I've done but cards myself, Jim Rivera or Craig Wright have actually seen.

I hope these numbers prove helpful.

1st....my number of "approx. 60" for the Sweet Caporal, Factory 42 (No Overprint) includes the 19 additional Sweet Caporal 460/42 (No Overprint)
cards that have been confirmed from the 460-Only series.

2nd....and, thanks for the better number of a possible 624 for the Sweet Caporal Factory 25 sub-set. I have revised the grand total to 4996 in my
above post to reflect this.

For the sake of accuracy the Sweet Cap 350-460 No.42 (No Overprint) group is 46 subjects. I corrected my post but it's wrong in Teds post above that quoted mine.

Also we believe there were only 12 460 Only subjects printed with this back.

Hey guy....I think you want me to stir up some controversy....don't you

Really, I'm one on this forum who is completely convinced that these 1910 COUPON cards should be included in the T206 "family".

But, I try not to push it....why stir up a "hornets nest"....I will leave well enough alone (at least for now)

Default Perhaps I can help...

"Aloha! I have collectd t206's for many decades.....never much payed much attention to the backs, other than avoiding cards with back damage. While flipping through my 206s I see I have a T206 Al Burch in fielding position with a brown lenox back "factory 30 2nd dist NY. It is a beater with multiple creases but all the print and pic are clear. For a long time I heard that the brown ones were just washed out black ones. The back is dingy and looks a little faded, but I have had it for 30+ yrs so I don't think it was ever deliberately doctored. Would fading do this? Will try to post a pic but I am a computer idiot. dave"

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=141940

Dave happy to help perhaps you can sell me your newly found "Brown Lenox" Burch I can make sure to give you some cards and plenty of scratch towards your new super set project! BTW love to see the card (Burch) even if he's not for sale don't see to many "Brown Lenox" cards besides need to know if we need to update the list...the list guys like Tim get crazy when there's cards missing that need to be counted.

Cheers,

John

Not shy...just secretive...besides I have't got a clue as to scanning and can barely use a computer. In fact FKW had to stop by last year to photograph and post a previously unidentified issue. I will share the results of my efforts if it sheds any new light on the subject. Sincerely, Dave.

David computers are no fun agreed but snap a pic on the phone or something and email one of us I'm sure we can post it. Email has to be in your skill set I mean you figured this place out and net54 is a mess.

I mean you cant be to private you announced you own the card in the last thread in Sept to the entire forum, and now you're talking super set smash down.

I'm a secrecy kind of guy myself but my brown Lenox cards I posted for you guys heck I even posted my Burch...tag you're it.

Burch me baby!

Cheers,

John

Aloha! John, Brah! I don't even know what "snap a pic on the phone" means? I only have a hard line. I haven't owned a camera since they had those little flash cubes that spin around. I don't even own a T.V. Let alone a fax scanner copier or what ever they are. I am fortunate to navigate (poorly) on the internet. Haven't been off the Island in 9 yars and don't want to go anywhere. Just me, Last national I was at was in Detroit. Enjoy the Hobby , aloha, dave.

Wow Dave with a collection like yours with hidden Brown Lenox cards we have to get you a PC teacher so you can scan perhaps a young cute one to keep you focused.

Shame well next time FKW is around have him take a pic so we can add it to the list as a confirmed example.

Cheers,

John

P.S. This land locked non tech savvy lifestyle is going to cramp your super set all front back combo run we have to get you up and running.

David, Next time I come out there I will have to look you up. I usually come out there a couple times a year to fish. You are on the other side of the island from Kailua Kona where I go but I need to see the other side some day. I will all ways come for the HIBT. It would be nice to talk cards some time when I come.

ha ha ha You know....I don't even own a radio or a car/truck. Been offered computer instruction but declined. How would my lack of scanning affect my pursuit of the master monster?? I was thinking of buying a large lot or two and mesh them with mine...see what's left over.
Texx what do you fish for? Billfish? Did you ever see all the mounts in the King Kam Hotel...I think they remodeled and are gone now, they were awesome. Look me up.. I'm in the book, perhaps fkw, you and myself can talk turkey (reds).ha ha. aloha, dave. PS do any surfing?

We usually stay at the King Kam Hotel. The big one is still there. They sure go messed up last year. Once you catch a 700lb marlin it's hard to fish for bait.

Well just my two cents sooner or later chasing 5000+ combos is going to lead to some extras and scanning and or selling/trading is bound to be at play.

Lord knows I've had to do my share of horse trading/scanning to get the few cards I was after and I ended up with my share of dups and that was know 5000+ examples project.

And even if you don't want to sell, part of the joy of collecting for me is sharing those choice pickups with fellow collectors. That's why we're here, right? And what's a post without a picture?

Hi David - I've finally had a chance to tally some numbers for you to think about in regards to a T206 Master Set. These numbers are based on a collaborative effort between myself, Jim Rivera, Art Martineau and Brian Weisner.

The total number of confirmed front/back combinations for all brands that we have at this time is 5,030 cards.

The maximum number that are theoretically possible are 6,068 cards. Included in this count are several back brands with a large number of unconfirmed cards that will ultimately be moved to no print lists reducing this number.

If we combine the confirmations of what we do have, with what we know about the composition of the set, the number of subjects believed possible at this time is 5,483. This number will move up or down in the coming years as we continue to learn about the sets composition and new confirmations come in but it's not expected to be subject to big swings. Great records have been kept about many of the tougher backs for years but close study of some of the most common backs is relatively new. Again thanks to Craig Wright who has been a big help with that work.

A couple more things about the numbers, the counts did include Old Mill-Brown and Ty Cobb. If you don't want them included then your numbers should be 5,019 - 6,034 - 5,449

I hope this is helpful in some way.

Hi Yall! Aloha! First off much mahalos for everyone's advice it is greatly appreciated. 5000+ cards seems pretty dismaying, but I'll give it a shot. I think the first 2 or three years should be easy enough to locate common backs that I don,t have but when it gets down to rare backs I'm sure I won't even be able to find many of them....I think the fun will be to just plug away at it and pick up what I can when I can (within my budget). Darn I think back to when I was buying some of these T cards for a buck or two or three and must have passed on scarce backs because I already had that card (front) back in the early days few collectors and few dealers ever considered the backs as common or scarce....back varieties weren't considered except by few.
Secondly..OK Ok OK I will ask Santa for a scanner and or high tech camera or something so I can get some pictures up and keep those interested in my masochistic attack of the master monster posted......here's hoping I don't fall flat on my face. (It wouldn't be the first time) Aloha, Dave.

Gee....it's nice to see that my master set estimate of 4996 (4312 + 624 + 60) cards is in close agreement with others here.

Wishing you lots of luck on this journey.

Hi David-

Good luck on your quest, that's awesome that you already have 518 !!! I'd also love to see the Brown Lenox Burch. I myself am a computer novice, so I understand the feeling of not knowing how to scan. But don't get discouraged, it's no harder than what you did to put your avatar up.

Please keep us posted, and good luck hunting !!!

Sincerely, Clayton

Something about a guy with no radio or car/truck collecting 5000 different t206's seems just about right to me......
