Default Which Pre-War sets have at least one player living today?

Any pre-war sets feature a still living individual?
I would be interested to find out

Bobby got in the HOF only because Ted Williams pushed it to the limit with the Veterans Committee. He tried unsuccessfully the same strategy with Dom DiMaggio but didn't work.

Peter's answer appears to be the only correct answer as Doerr is the only living player to have debuted prior to 1939. Pretty crazy that we are 1-for-1 on actually having had a pre-war card issued.

Just because of the times and not for lack of talent, Monte Irvin was playing negro league for the Newark Eagles pre-war.

Not a qualifier for a prewar set as there are just team photos and rppcs. I just would hate to leave him out of a list of living players as he started in 38'.

The man was mvp in the negro and Cuban leagues prior to being drafted and serving 3 years in the army during the war.

I'm pretty sure he still does, a website I use for ttm (he doesn't sign, anymore though) says confirms he still lives there (as of August 2015).

Peter Im curious why you didnt site his 1937 R314 Goudey Wide Pens card. Wouldn't this be considered his true rookie? Just curious.

Default 1948 Bowman

Although not pre-war (well.....depends on the war! ), the 1948 Bowman Basketball Set has 1 living player and he still signs TTM! Kenneth "Kenny" Sailors.

94 years young!

Mike

Default Eddie Carnett

He doesn't quite make the pre-war cutoff, but Eddie Carnett is in the 1943 Centennial Flour set.

Bobby Doerr is the last living baseball player to have entered the majors before WW2.

Therefore any set he is in are the only ones in baseball to feature active living players from before 1940

Doerr is also the last living member of the 1948 Leaf set.
