Default Need help with these t206's

Hey guys. I am not familiar with these T206's but have been contacted by a seller who wants to sell. Should be 33 total. I obviously am not buying to keep them as I need money, so I would want to make money off them. I was wondering if someone could please help me out with a Approximate retail value for the lot and a fair purchase price? Thanks guys for the help!

What you have there is a nice lower mid grade mix of T205s, T206s and a single T202 end panel.

It's hard to guess value when it all comes down to how the cards would grade, or at least it would need a closer, first hand inspection for flaws and possible trimming/alterations.

Having said that, there's 7 HOF cards in that group, with the best card possibly being the T206 M.Brown Old Mill.

Assuming all of the big $ cards would grade numerically, I'll guess around $1500 - $2000 market value for the entire group, but I'm not an expert, so there might be some non HOF rarities in there that would push it higher.

Thanks! I probably wouldn't grade any because the turnaround time would be too long. What would you want to be into this for if you were buying to resell. A fair number for the seller and I would be....? Thanks

The ballpark I had in my head from a quick look was ~$1,000 for a buy price as a lot, and you could break it up to get ~$1,500+. The Lundgren Cubs card is a tougher one as well.

If it were me, I'd try to get it for $800 or less, but $1000 is far from a bad deal.

Doing a quick analysis and calculation, there are about 7 T206s here with decent value. I'm not as well versed in T205s, but there doesn't appear to be any big names of those, although the one has a cool date stamp which can add value to the right collector.

I calculated the estimated resale value total of those 7 T206s to be about $500 on the low end. That leaves 26 cards remaining, and if you just do a quick multiplication by $20 (again, on the low side for a majority of them), the entire low-end value of this lot is about $1000.

So if you can snag the lot for around $800 or less, you're doing REALLY well. If you can snag the lot for $800-1000, it's still a pretty good deal.

Thanks a lot for the information. I offered 850. Waiting for a response. I think that's fair and I can turn a profit right?

I would say so. If you get the lot for $850, and we allocated $500 of that value to the 7 main cards (again, that $500 in minimum value), that leaves $350 of total value in the other 26 cards. That's $13.46 per card. At the minimum $20 that I was calculating, that's a $170 profit. If we raised it to $25 per card, that's a $300 profit. I'll let you decide if that's enough profit for you, but I'd take that on strictly the more common cards. There's also a lot meat on the bone for the 7 higher end cards - you could profit big time with those. At $850, that's $25 per card, which is the average price of a common, and you have 7 HoFers in pretty good condition. If you resold each HoFer at what you paid for them ($25 each), that's $175. But I calculated their resale value to be $500 in total. So that's another $300+. All in all, you have room to profit $550+.

Sorry if my explanation is confusing at all.

No I truly appreciate the information. He is mulling over the offer. He said it's fair but wants to think about it.

One thing I will say is be prepared to sit on them, or get creative with how to sell them (lots, singles, different outlets, etc.).

If I just put each one up for auction starting at 9.99 would that work?

I pretty much agree on the prices. I think you really have to make sure you make as much money as you can on the hall of famers and the Lundgrenn. The two browns are key cards here. The end panel is pretty worthless, and I think all the t205's would probably go in the $15 range on ebay. The common t206's should sell 15-30$ if you take your time, but commons can go pretty cheap on ebay and most places. I think you are very safe at 850 because of the HOFERS.

I'd still consider getting the HOFers graded. The 2 M.Brown cards could bring in $500 alone. They look like they'd grade at least VG (3).

I have learned - by experience - if you have a minimum you want to get for an item, set the starting bid at that minimum. If you wanted to do a quick sell, you'll minimize your profits, but reduce the time you'll be sitting on your money. I'd look to start the auctions at $15 for the most part. Do research on each individual card. Check sold listings, and sort by Lowest Price + Shipping. Always base your potential profits off of minimums.

If you are looking for the a quicker turnaround, the 26 individual cards won't reap you much of a profit. Like Bruinsfan said, you'll want to maximize your profits with the HoFers and Lundgren.
