Default RE: 1934 Boston Americans Baseball Scraps

Hi Guys:
I picked up this 1934 Boston
Americans Ruth/Maranville numbers 1/2
I believe they were issued in pairs over time and collected as cards
Would these qualify as “Baseball Stamps” per the earlier board discussion?
Any info on there would be appreciated. Thanks. Phil

Likely cut from some type of guide and unlikely to have a significant resale value.

They are not the "Sport Stamps" but may be part of a series in the Boston American.

Default 1934 Scraps

There’s a pair currently listed on EBay, Res Lucas/ Al Simmons
Numbers 13/14.
At the bottom it reads “cut these out daily and save them. You’ll have a ready reference baseball guide of all your favorites”
It seems to me that it appeared regularly in the newspaper to be cut out and collected.

Phil,
The Boston American also printed "cards" of players on both Boston teams in 1931, billing them as the Boston Evening American Baseball Album. The 1934 series was more wide-ranging as I have numbers as high as 192 and I see r.cedeno has more than 100 cut singles currently listed on eBay. These also appeared in the American's sister paper, the Record. I suspect many newspapers ran similar series as circulation stimulants during this period, especially papers owned by the Hearst Co. like the Boston American, Advertiser and Record.
