Default Question about Trimming

Posted By: MilfordMark

From time to time, I see a card on ebay that says something like, "...right side has evidence of trimming". I assume this means that the card will not be graded. Does this mean that it won't be graded (e.g. PSA 2) or it won't be authenticated at all.

If the latter, why is that? In other words, if the card was authentic, albeit trimmed, why can it not be called authentic.

I am not trying to advocate card trimming, just trying to understand the rationale.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark:

PSA will likely not grade it at all but both SGC and GAI will holder it as authentic as long as there are no other issues with the card other than evidence of trimming.

I've had trimmed and miscut cards holdered by PSA as authentic- you just have to ask.
I'm glad all the grading companies are doing this more often.
