Default Let's see your early base ball related letters, scorebooks, manuscripts, etc.

I would enjoy seeing some of the ealry written baseball material that the board may have. I know some of you have interesting material tucked away.

I'll start it with what I think is the real genesis for the spread of baseball...the civil war. This 1863 letter, from Plymouth Mass., notes the change of a club from the game of cricket to the game of base ball. The writer states:

"Perhaps you may be interested in knowing that "The Plymouth Rock Cricket Club" has been turned in to "The Plymouth Rock Base Ball Club". Where at "Ben" is quite dissatisfied. Most of us think that rather a better game than Cricket and we play the New York game."
