Default Vintage Base Ball

I manage a team in CT that plays usually by 1880's era rules but also mix in an 1860's game or two each summer.

My first hit in a vintage base ball game came against a former NY Yankee pitcher who had won a world series game.... He was 70 at the time but it was still a thrill getting a chance to bat (and succeed) against the legendary Jim Bouton.

Bulldog is now a member of my squad and even at 76 can still throw 200 knuckle balls in a game.

Anybody in CT this Saturday who wants to watch (or play) in a vintage base ball game, let me know. We play at Cove Park in Wethersfield at 11 AM. Bouton won't be there (he plays the 1880 game exclusively) but it will be a good afternoon of historic base ball with a good group of guys.

Attached are pictures of Bouton from that first game. And me taking a swing and lining a single over short.
