Bob ManningBob Maier, who played for Detroit right at the end of WWII. Only played in 132 games (not the 150 required here), but hit a respectable .263, including seven triples. In fact Detroit won the pennant with him at third, though he was replaced by Jimmy Outlaw in the Series, which the Tigers won. And then Hank Greenberg came back from the service and George Kell joined the club the following spring, and Mr. Maier never surfaced again. It's probably not him, but it's worth knowing anyway.
