Regarding the second part of your question, I am not aware of another reference for news service photo stampings, online or otherwise, besides "A Portrait of Baseball Photography."
If you are into collecting vintage sports photos, I would strongly recommend picking up a copy. There are almost always a handful of used copies on Amazon in the $20-30 range, well worth the investment.
