In retrospect, the Cardinals got the better of the deal.

Hornsby had three titanic seasons going from NY to Boston to Chicago then broke his ankle and was basically finished as a player. He was such a toxin in the clubhouse that NY threw him away after one season and Boston followed suit.

Frisch became the driving force of the Gas House Gang and went to four WS with the Cardinals: 28, 30-31, 34) and was the GHG's manager. Won the MVP in 1931 and played through 1937. He also trained up a fellow no-holds-barred field leader, Leo Durocher.
