Default Bad scan, good scan

This is the scan in the auction, notice the big white speck on the left side:




I traded for the card a few days after the winner of the auction won it and received it. The big speck doesn't exist in real life, but there are other flaws with the surface - a lot of smaller white specks. But overall I think the card looks better. Also the card is bright red in real life as in my scan below, whereas the auctioneer's scan made the card look orange. With the bright red background, I think it is easier to see the small white specks, that is hardly visible in the auctioneer's scan.



It makes me wonder how the scan would have looked if the auctioneer didn't have a big white speck on their scanner or the holder when they scanned it...it would have looked better than my scan, and any bidders would have been fooled. However, in this case I think their poor scan with the big white speck made interested bidders shy away a bit. Comments?
