Miller Huggins became Mgr. of the Yankees in the Fall of 1917. Initially, New Yorkers (and the Press) were very unhappy with Huggins,
who replaced their very popular Mgr. Wild Bill Donovan.
By 1921-1923, Huggins won the favor of the NY fans with consecutive Championships. Huggins was more than just the Yankees Mgr.,
he served as the team's scout. When the opportunity arose, he wasted no time in persuading Jake Ruppert and Til Houston to acquire
Babe Ruth (whose career Huggins had closely followed while Ruth was with Boston). The rest is history.
