Bill StoneTed --let's put it at the Slugger Museum in Louisville, Kentucky --that would be much more accessible and would be a fitting addition to their collection of baseball history. I know the Association of Art Museum Directors strongly disapproves of selling a part of a museum's collection -- other than for the purpose of strengthening their collections ---I am sure the Met could find a way to " strengthen their remaining collection" by sharing this collection with another museum, since the collection doesn't really serve an educational/civic function if it can't be easily viewed. I am curious what is involved in seeing the collection ---I understand an appointment is necessary but is anything else required?
