On the Ruth batting image, it was taken in 1925 in St Petersburg, FL. Though the image I have is different, they were taken at the same time....although the image you posted is small, the red circles of the people in the background seem to match up.

Many years ago, I had access to a ton of Ruth negatives and made contact prints of them all, many of them still had the newspaper captions inside the envelopes.
