Default I love Topps Proof Cards

Type collecting is my focus (both pre and post war) but I also love Topps Proof cards esp those that are unissued or variations of the regular issues... I've been lucky to add a few to my collection and here are two of my favorites 76 Darwin variation (helmet version) and the 77 Fitzmorris version (with KC uniform).

The Darwin variation was very odd... an airbrushed helmet was plopped over the cap which in the regular version was also airbrushed..to show his trade from Minn to Milwaukee. Interestingly Keith Olbermann mentioned in the SCD article that one of these originated from Bruce Yeko via Woody Gelman so I wonder if all of these came from him ala Roger Maris Yankees Proof cards...

Unissued Proof (helmet over cap):

Regular Issue: (airbrushed Milwaukee cap scanned from ebay)

Fitzmorris was one of quite a few uniform changes that were part of the 77 set...that ofcourse includes the famous Reggie Jackson in a Orioles uniform version...

Unissued Proof (still in his KC uniform) :

Regular issue: (airbrushed to show the Indians garb taken from ebay)
