* Randy Johnson - 2001 & 2002
* Pedro Martinez - 1999 (or 1997, 2000 or 2002)
* Orel Hershiser - 1988
* Dennis Eckersly - 1992 (or 1988 or 1990)
* Roger Clemens - 1986 (Mattingly was robbed, though)
* Dwight Gooden - 1985
* Fernando Valenzuela - 1981 (if you were in L.A. you know how magical it was)
* Ron Guidry - 1978
I'd be lying if I said I had much baseball consciousness earlier than that.
The most dominant 2 month span in my lifetime was Orel Hershiser at the end of the 1988 season and into the playoffs.
The most dominant over at least a 5 year span is Pedro Martinez.
