Quite simple, you need to do your own research of what the market will bear. No one can give you a short cut in that area, and as you can tell, there are posters on this board who bristle at the concept. Fact is the SMR does not work too well with vintage issues.

You have so much competition with vintage that you WILL overpay and take a loss/break even now and then. The suggestion of going with strip cards seems reasonable, although looking to other oddball issues may be a better idea. Personally, I think 1920's Exhibit cards are undervalued, higher cost for grading has impeded that market. But there always listings which get overlooked for a variety of reasons, occasionally NO reason, where you can double your money.
