Shawn AdkinsX.com used to be known as "com corporation" and they provided the same services as paypal before paypal was around. Paypal and com joined together (no buyout just equal partners) to create the largest online banking and payment service of it's day.
I remember it fairly well because shorlty after the new year, in 2000, it was announced that they had a very serious flaw in the sites design. When transfering funds, you were able to just type in the account number of the withdrawl and deposit accounts...pretty simple and straight forward right? The only problem was that there was no security check in place to see if you actually owned either of those accounts. All you needed was someones checking account number (from any back in the US) and you could just withdraw funds from that account into your own.
They merged with paypal later that year. Yep, the good ole days of ecommerce.
