Not sure if this counts but really cool….
A few years back I was heavy into buying sterling silver.
I was going to my sons baseball game in a small area known as Meiseheimer ,NC. He played for a small school, Pfeiffer university. He told me to stop and check out the antique store 1/2 mile from the school..
I did.
I found a "Book" that was made of sterling. Had nice etching on the front. Paid $200 I think. Thought this is heavy and nice..
Got it home and the melt value was north of $800.
More cool however, is that it was a piece that had been given to professors at UNCC. Before it was UNCC.
I am thinking 1930’s.
Still have it and probably never sell.
Sometimes your gut can lead to good decisions.
