GeorgeThanks to Ted for jogging my memory about the Van Lingle Mungo poem. It came out in 1985, shortly after the death of its protagonist. It is a great poem.........but, unfortunately, I have lost my copy, and have been unable to find it. The words I remember are as follows:
Honor now Van Lingle Mungo,
Pound the plate and hoist a fungo.
Flaming fastball, fiery nature,
Famous for his nomenclature.
If anyone knows, or has a copy of, the complete poem, I would love to have it.
Thanks,
George
