My wife and I have no shared financial accounts. We pay for joint expenses in a rough ratio to our earnings (now, pensions). Thus, neither of us gets involved in the other's discretionary purchases. I'm not suggesting that this system would work for everyone, but it has served us well for over 20 years. Mark
