Yes, I would offer $500 to GUARANTEE that I get the card instead of losing it at the end.

Here is the DOWNSIDE of offering to buy a card from a seller:

Once the seller KNOWS that you are willing to buy his card for $500... he can assume that you will also BID that same amount...

so he can tell his friend to place a SHILL bid for $490 and FORCE you to pay your max bid anyway.

Such is the risk.
