After scouring Baseball Reference, I believe the date is June 20, 1956 in Detroit. After Elston Howard singled in the top of the ninth, Norm Siebern pinch ran for him. With Siebern eventually on 2nd base and two outs, Whitey Ford singled to right and Siebern was thrown out at home to end the inning, tagged out by Frank House. The only possible problem is that it was a night game and the photo appears to be taken during the day. On July 18, 1956 at Yankee Stadium in a day game, Siebern scored on a sacrifice fly by Mickey Mantle with House catching, but it appears to me that Siebern is clearly wearing a road uniform and House is wearing a home uniform. Either way, the year can only be 1956 if the photo is from a regular season game, Siebern played for the Yankees in 1956, 1958, and 1959, and House was with the A's wearing #36 in 1958 and #12 in 1959. The only other player that I found in the American League in 1956, 1958, or 1959 that wore #2 and could possibly be a catcher was Earl Averill in 1958, but he played 3rd base in all 17 games that he played that year. It is also possible that it was a spring training game in 1956 or 1957.
