I collect lower grade T206's, most of which would grade in the 1 to 3 range. All of them are raw, including the 40-50 that were in slabs, except for the 4 Cobbs, Dahlen, Elberfeld, and Lundgren. I also have around 90 T205's, and all are raw except 1.

I learned the hard way on a couple of T206's when I first started, but now I know what to look for, although I much prefer to purchase graded cards of the more expensive HOFers and variations.
