Default Huggins and Scott Auction - Bidding Has Begun

All:

Huggins and Scott’s third Masterpiece Auction of 2012 began on Monday May 28th, 2012 at Noon eastern time. Bidding will be available until Thursday night June 7th with the 30-minute rule beginning at 11:00pm eastern time.

This auction features another amazing array of sports and non-sports items that caters to every level of collector and investor. Whether you only want to spend a few hundred dollars or several thousand dollars, our selection of quality items has a little something for just about everyone. The highlight piece in this auction is Lot #1: an absolutely incredible 1862 Autograph Book featuring Abraham Lincoln, virtually every member of his cabinet and 200+ members of the 37th Congress. Found in remarkable condition, with the book signed almost in order of importance to the country at the time, Lincoln appears on the first page, followed by his Vice President, Hannibal Hamlin and subsequent pages featuring: William Seward, Salmon Chase, Edward Bates, Simon Cameron, Gideon Welles, Caleb Smith and Andrew Johnson (just to name a few). Without a doubt, this piece belongs in the category of “historically significant pieces of American History!”

Card collectors will enjoy an abundance of 19th and 20th century rarities including professionally graded and raw examples of cards from a variety of designations, including a collection of N173 Old Judge Cabinet cards (PSA 3-4); an uncatalogued, previously unknown “J=K Frank Baker” Type card; a high-grade 1933 Sport Kings Babe Ruth (GAI 7.5); the highest graded 1939 Play Ball Joe DiMaggio (SGC 96); a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card (BVG 4); a pair of very tough 1952 Royal Desert hockey cards; and a tremendous collection of modern insert cards with numerous autographed 1 of 1’s, relic cards and other “shiny” cards for the new-card collector and investor. As always, we present a plethora of complete and near sets from 1948-present, along with numerous wonderful “shoebox” collections (always a crowd favorite).

Other phenomenal artifacts in this auction include an incredible selection of game-used items with Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton’s 1983 World Series Phillies jerseys; game-used bats from Alex Rodriguez (Appleton Foxes minor league bat); Richie Allen (1976 Bi-Centennial); Johnny Bench; Hanley Ramirez; Evan Longoria; Barry Bonds; Miguel Cabrera; Matt Wieters; Ryan Zimmerman and many more. We also offer a great selection of various years, styles and teams of game-used warm-up jackets including a 1950s New York Yankees, 1952 St. Louis Browns, 1970s Walt Alston (Dodgers), 1976 Cito Gaston (Braves) and a 1980s Dennis Eckersley (Athletics). Moving to the rink, we have a stellar Gordie Howe 1965-66 game-used and Red Wings team-signed stick; a 1968-69 Pete Mahovlich game-used and Red Wings team-signed stick; and a Ron Francis 1990 game-used and Penguins team-signed stick.

Staying in the memorabilia category, we are pleased to offer a one-of-a-kind custom-made bracelet featuring 17 press-pins from the World Series and All Star games from 1952-1957; a scarce 1906 World Series game-program (Cubs vs White Sox); tickets from the Major League debut’s of Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Don Drysdale; full tickets from Buckner’s error game, Jeter’s 3000th hit and many more.

As with all of Huggins and Scott Auctions, we have a large number of autographed lots including baseballs, bats, lithographs, photographs and others consigned by collectors from all across the country. Highlights include: a high-grade 1928 Babe Ruth/Lou Gehrig dual-signed baseball; a Roberto Clemente signed 1963 Topps card; a 1951 original photograph signed by Mantle, Williams and DiMaggio; a 1987 Mike Schmidt signed and inscribed record-breaking game-used homerun baseball; a 1972 Roberto Clemente signed personal check; and a unique 1946 World Series scorebook signed by Speaker, Foxx, Cochrane and Dean; and many other amazing pieces.

If political or Americana collecting is your hobby, this auction has quite a few choice pieces for you including: a 1975 Elvis Presley signed personal check; an incredible single page with hand-written lyrics signed by Michael Jackson to his hit song, “Billie Jean”; a very neat 1934 $500 bill; a collection of high-grade coins and bullion including a MS-70 $20 Gold Double Eagle coin; a stunning 1904 Teddy Roosevelt signed cabinet photo (as President); and much more.
