I also saw the REA Jackson before it was slabbed. I own it. The crease does not break the surface. This can be seen in the greatly enlarged full page scan that REA placed in the front of their catalog. The scan was made before slabbing. The crease is only apparent in certain angles of light. With great respect for Jay's opinion, I would consider this kind of creasing to be minor. I believe also that SGC gave no special weight to the crease.
