I disagree completely with your math and logic.
I contend that the cost of catalog is an investment that yields more bidding / higher results for the auction house and the consignors.
I contend that as a consignor you are already paying an extra %% in lost bidding.
I do not want to be a downer on this thread so I will stop there. I can be completely wrong. And of course - my opinion may be considered a biased one. For the record - I am not out for personal monetary gain by suggesting an auction house should have a catalog. I am just giving my honest opinion of its value.
